virtus pro team

Introduction / Team Overview

Virtus.Pro was originally founded in Russia in 2003, and rebooted in 2012. Despite its Russian origins, the Virtus Pro CSGO team currently consists entirely of Polish players, and is coached by another polish pro player, Jakub ‘okuben’ Gurczyński. The Virtus Pro organisation has also recently received some serious financial backing, with Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov, who is also part owner of English Premier League football club Arsenal, investing $100,000,000 in the team. With that kind of money behind them, the Virtus Pro CSGO team were recently able to hone their skills in a luxury custom ‘bootcamp’ facility in a house in Moscow, which boasted a gym, luxury accommodation and an incredible, high-technology practice area. Having won a host of tournaments in 2016, the team is already enjoying plenty of glory in 2017 too, having already won the 2017 edition of the Dreamhack Masters – Las Vegas event.

Highlights / Strengths

Having such financial muscle behind them makes Virtus Pro one of the real giants of the CSGO scene. It also allows them to tie the star players on their roster into long-term contracts which last until 2020. Not many other eSports organisations can boast that kind of stability, and, with the personnel they have in place, it looks like Virtus Pro will be competing for the top titles for a long time to come.
The sheer depth of talent on their CSGO team is also incredible, with one of the world’s top CSGO players, Filip ‘NEO’ Kubski, as team captain. Nicknamed ‘the Bears’, the team really is one of the strongest CSGO squads out there. Total winnings of $2,063,454 are a testament to their strength in depth.

Branding / Sponsorship / Logo

The team colours are black, orange and white, and the team logo is a white growling bear. Brash, confident and talented, with plenty of money in the bank, Virtus Pro really is one of the star teams on the CSGO scene. The team has a number of partnerships, including with Twitch TV, and eSports bookmaker Mr Cat also on board. Other sponsors include Vertagear, who makes gaming furniture, and gaming marketplace G2A.com. Russian retail network Fragstore also backs the team.
Together, the main guys on the team are known as the ‘Golden Five’. As well as an official team jersey and other merchandise, fans can also purchase ‘Golden Five’ souvenirs and gear. Supporters can also show their passion digitally, by downloading the official wallpaper for their devices.

Team Roles / Expertise / Divisions

The team has some of the CSGO scene’s biggest characters performing in its colours. Jarosław ‘pasha biceps’ Jarząbkowski is known for the size of his arms, as well as his abilities as a rifler who can use assault or sniper rifles, depending on the team’s needs. Other roles are filled by Wiktor ‘Taz’ Wojtas, who captains the team and is an expert with the assault rifle, and Janusz ‘Snax’ Pogorzelski, who is a mult-time CSGO world champion.

Roster & Achievements

Completing the current roster is Filip ‘NEO’ Kubski, and Paweł ‘byali’ Bieliński, both excellent players with fine reputations and sharp skills. As well as the win in Las Vegas, the team has also managed a second place at the E League Major, and a third place at the World Electronic Sports Games tournament in January 2017. First places in 2016 included DreamHack Bucharest 2016, ELEAGUE Season 1, StarLadder i-League Invitational #1, and the ESL ESEA Pro League Invitational, amongst others. The team members also occupy high places in the current CSGO individual standings too
